w-ire me
Enveloping a wide spectrum of creative and improvised music, the w-IRE Me project, directed by Chris Comhaill, examines a sense of place through a kaleidoscopic experience of music, poetry and mythology. Both based in IRE-land, Chris and collaborator vocalist Filipa Quintino offer songs and soundscapes influenced by personal and collective cultural backgrounds to expose the circumstances of identity and how these factors w-IRE us.
In 2020, w-IRE Me recorded and released their debut album 'Live at Temple Lane', as well as a series of live companion videos. It is a raw album, recorded in one day in May 2020 at Temple Lane Studios in Dublin. Each song is captured live in that moment, without overdubs or studio tricks, as if the listener were sitting in on a gig. A small audience was invited to spectate in the studio and to create a unique and special atmosphere. The performance is intimate and vulnerable. On the album you’ll find two original songs and three songs from other artists that have been reimagined.
millions of people | Live
The single from this album ‘Millions of People’ received warm reviews from both The Irish Times and Jazz Ireland who called it "a transcendent mix of composition and improvisation". Chris is at present producing new material for this project with a focus on continuing to combine elements of folk music and improvisation.
